The Second Big Day finally arrives!

Friday, December 9, 2011

sunny 38 °F

Friday arrived cold and overcast, as expected. A few issues arose pertaining to the reception, but luckily all was worked out. Don and I took Bob and Shirley to our favorite local breakfast joint, The Bagel Grove. It was delicious as expected and as usual. Then we took them to Whitesboro, Don's hometown, and introduced them to our travel agent at the Cruise Wizards. Brenda had done all the work for our 12 day Alaskan Adventure and Bob and Shirley wanted to be able to say "thank you" in person. We had a nice visit with Brenda then continued on our way.
Sadly, Norm could not go.

There were a few reception errands for us to take care of and then, before we knew it, it was time to get ready. My brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Donna, arrived from New Hampshire and we all gussied up. We all arrived at Union Station to see a beautiful sight. Lots of round, white-clothed tables with candles and beer bottles! In order to find your seat you needed to read the beer chart, then proceed to the table with the corresponding beer. Quite clever. There was also a scrumptious candy buffet set up by my brother-in-law, Dick and his wife, Julie. We had the biggest shrimp I've ever seen along with other goodies for appetizers. The dinner was set up in stations (pretty cool, Union Station, and all) that included three delicious salads, chicken kabobs, grilled cheese sandwiches (yum) and a mashed potato bar! Three different kinds of cakes rounded out the feast.

Everything was wonderful! We had a terrific DJ and photographer who kept the party moving right along, and a great bunch of family and friends there to help celebrate. The dancing was fast and fun, with all kinds of music. I believe everyone who came had a great time. Don and I tried our best to visit with all the friends and family, but I' m sure we probably missed someone, it all seemed to go so quickly!

After all the festivities were concluded, Bob, Shirley, Don and I went to our friends, Sandy and Ralph's house to stay because there was no room for us at the inn. Actually, Ryan and Khristina had invited our family to use their house and it was full! We were so pleased! Sandy and Ralph invited the four of us to stay with them and we had a very nice visit!

Sad to say, it was all over, but happy it was all a wonderful success!
