Christmas at Disney

Saturday, December 3, 2011

sunny 77 °F

We worked our usual Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, then on Friday I sang in my first concert for this season.

Saturday was a busy Christmas day for us at Disney. We started out at the Magic Kingdom at 8:30, lining up on Main Street for the taping of the Christmas Day Parade. Those who arrived in the earlier group at 7:30 were up near the Castle to watch Justin Bieber's show. The equipment they use is amazing!

Our spots were on Main Street right in front of the Confectionary in the shade (at least when we first got there). The parade only arrived near us at 10:50, so there was a fair amount of waiting involved. This year's MC was Mario Lopez with Samantha Brown. There were bands, floats, balloons and characters. Also confetti! Many parts had to be done over and over again to get it right, but we enjoyed watching and chatting with our neighbors on the sidewalk.

In the afternoon, we went to Epcot because I had 2 concerts to sing in, the first one at 6:45, then again at 8:15. Geena Davis was the narrator and she did a really nice job. This was her first time doing this and she loved it. Her family was in the audience on Saturday, so she really had a good time. There were a number of songs that she sang with us, even getting the music for the Hallelujiah Chorus. I was standing almost right next to her and boy, is she tall!

It was a beautiful, warm day for a parade and concert.
